This is one of six known copies made by Pettrich after the version, believed to be the original, owned by the Ursuline Convent Archives and Museum in New Orleans. Additional copies are owned by the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk, VA, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania and the Maine Historical Society. A fourth copy, owned by a private collector from Minnesota, was sold in Sotheby's American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, November 30, 2000, lot 138.
