Lipsius (Justus)<P> [OPERA] Ills: P. van der Borcht, and others. Antwerp (Plantin), 1595-1605. 16 works in 9 vols. 4to. Many plates, full-page engravings and text illustrations. Some browning of text, but still a nice set in old vellum with gilt labels. Upper joints cracked on vol.1. <I>Lipsius lived from 1547 - 1606, and works bearing contemporary dates rarely appear as sets, and this is not a collection of works in the editorial sense. Originally conceived as 18 works in 10 volumes, two works: Saturnalium Sermonum and Philippi Rubeni Electorum, which formed volume seven, are no longer part of the set. Nevertheless, the remaining 16 works are rarely seen together.<P>
