Vintage glossy 8 x 10 WFL Drum Co. publicity photo of Lionel Hampton holding a drum and standing next to a Scottish Terrier, signed in bold fountain pen, “Best wishes, Lionel Hampton.” Also signed by 13 musicians from Hampton’s orchestra: Vernon Alley, Irving Ashby, Bob Barefield, Fred Beckett, Illinois Jacquet, Jack McVea, Jack Trainor, Ray Perry, Ernie Royal, Marshal Royal, Lee Young (brother of Lester), Henry Sloan, and Sir Charles Thompson. Typed collector’s notations to upper edge read: “Autographs of Lionel Hampton and his new orchestra on their first engagement, Sweet’s ballroom, October 5 1940." In very good condition, with corner tack holes, loss to the lower border, and emulsion loss to the bottom and right edges.
