Lindbergh Signed Short Snorter and Newsreel
Lindbergh Autographed "Short Snorter" and Newsreel. The two items in this lot should be welcome additions to any collection of "Lucky Lindy" memorabilia. The first is a string of five "short snorters" nearly three feet long and consisting of a Canadian dollar, three U.S. Silver Certificates and a Brazilian 20 reis note. The bills are literally covered in autographs and were the property of a "Col. De Arce" according to a note on an accompanying envelope. On the bright orange reverse of the Brazilian note can be found "Charles A. Lindbergh" and "Anne Lindbergh". The names are easily recognizable and stand out nicely against a lighter background. Since some of the signatories give a rank and since one bill is inscribed "12-26-41", this set probably dates to the early days of U.S involvement in World War II. As with many short snorters, these bills are heavily soiled. The accompanying item is a 16mm newsreel documenting Lindbergh's landing in Paris on May 21, 1927. Housed in an aluminum film can, 7" diameter.
