Lincoln Saloon Original Tin Sign, Lincoln, New Mexico. The original tin sign, including the surrounding pieces and peak, from the Lincoln Saloon, built in 1881. The saloon was located directly across the street from the courthouse where Billy the Kid shot and killed Pat Garrett's deputies, James Bel and Robert Ollinger, while escaping from jail. A great piece of Old West architecture and history, in apparent unrestored condition. The Lincoln Saloon portion of the sign is 25" tall by 96" long, combined with the side panels; peak and embossed lower panel the entire sign will measure at just over 22 feet wide (267") and 9 feet tall. Sign shown in several photos taken over the years in Lincoln starting in the 1880s.
