<B>Lincoln, Grant, and Stanton: A Second Roger's "Council of War" Sculpture.</B></I> In this slightly later version, Stanton now cleans his glasses with his handkerchief, rather than appearing to threaten his commander-in-chief (see previous lot description). But it seems you can never please everybody. This style also drew criticism because it made Stanton appear distracted and not focused on the important issue before them. Beautiful condition, with no damage, and only the tiniest trivial abrasion on the paint, patent date 1868.
