Abraham Lincoln: A Gorgeous 1864-Dated Chromo-Lithograph on Canvas. This remarkable process came into use during the Civil War period. Various prominent Americans such as Daniel Webster, Henry Clay, and General Grant were depicted, but president Lincoln seems to have been by far the most popular subject. Although mass-produced, these chromolithographs closely resemble actual paintings. As contemporary Lincoln display items they have great collector appeal. A number of the surviving examples have flaking or water staining on the "painted surface." The present example is in exceptionally nice condition. It is still in the original gold leafed frame which has some typical chipping. Label on reverse from the manufacturer, "E. C. Middleton & Co, Cincinnati, OH". Measures 18.75" x 22".

Shipping: Framed - with Glass, Large (view shipping information)
