Outstanding hand painted Limoges portrait charger depicting the quintessential cavalier. Defined by Webster's as "a gentleman trained in arms and horsemanship," this cavalier's emphasis is on the word "gentleman." Exquisite collar accented with enameling, and a well-executed portrait, particularly the brooding eyes. Terrific porcelain "blank," with raised outer edge, wonderfully accented in gold trim. Measures slightly over 14" in diameter. Condition is very good-to-excellent, with no chips, cracks, scratches, or repairs. Signed by the artist, C. E. Hollman. Stamped on the back with A. Klingenberg Mark #7, found in use from about the 1890s to 1910.
