Limited Edition Silver Coins From U.S. & Mexico
For your consideration are a collection of limited edition silver coins from the United States and Mexico circa 1968-1985. The first in this lot is a sleeve of three limited edition United States coins. The coins are part of the United States Bicentennial Silver Proof Set and features a 1776-1976 Eisenhower silver dollar, a 1776-1976 Kennedy silver half dollar and a 1776-1976 Washington quarter. The three coins come in a nice red, white and blue booklet with respective spots for the coins. The next coin comes in a small red box with George Washington's face on the front. The coin is the 250th Anniversary of George Washington's birthday and was minted in 1982. The coin shows George Washington on horse back on one side of the coin while the other side of the coin shows his house. The next coin in this collection is a 1968 25 peso coin from Mexico. Minted in 1968 to commemorate the Summer Olympics in Mexico City, this silver coin offers an attractive historic design. The coin shows an image of an Aztec ballplayer above the Olympic rings on one side, while the other side shows the Mexican coat of arms with denomination and fineness at bottom. The final coin in this collection is a .999 fine silver 1 onza Mexico coin from 1985. The Libertad is Mexico's treasure coin and is minted at Casa de Moneda de Mexico, the oldest mint in North America, established in 1535. The coin contains 1 ounce of .999 fine silver. One side features a culptural relief design of the national shield, encompassed by the legend "Estados Unidos Mexicanos" (United Mexican States), while the other side shows two key symbols of the Mexican people: the Winged Victory statue in the forefront and the Mexican volcanoes Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl in the background. The coins show good condition overall with no signs of obvious damage present. The cases measure from 4" L x 4" W to 2 3/4" L x 3 1/2" W. The two coins not in cases measure from 1 1/2" in diameter to 1 3/8" in diameter. The total weight of the collection is 204.8 grams.
