Limited Edition Atlantic Set of Works of H.G. Wells, Signed by the Author. (New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1924), 28-volume set, half-cloth binding with beige cloth on spine and green boards, 8vo (6.25" x 9.25"), no dust jackets, no slipcases. Set number 484 of 1050 printed. Title cards pasted to spine of each volume. The first of the 28 volumes is autographed by Wells on the verso of the half-title page. Deckled edges. Along with Jules Verne, H.G. Wells is considered one of the founders of what we now call science fiction. His politically-charged tales of wonder set a standard for excellence that is still a goal for writers of the fantastic. Volume 1 shows some separation of the endpapers, but is otherwise very good. All other volumes are in very good condition, with minor shelf wear, and some faded title cards on the spine. A marvelous example of this rare edition.
