Called "LIKHA" in the Philippines, these Limestone Ancestral burial figures were extremely rare until the 1980s, and are now known from only 3 locations - Batangas (scarce), Panay (rare) and the Cotabato region. Similar sculpting can be found atop the covers of large Limestone Burial Jars - also from the same locations (indicating people movement or interchange of culture a thousand or more years ago). Broken off at the feet somewhere in the finding, this spirit figure is holding an offering cup and seems to be making a speech. 11-1/4" tall plus wooden stand, he dates to about 700-1200AD.
