<Our item number 139955><B>Liliuokalani &#40;as Princess Regent&#41;.</B> &#40;1838-1917&#41; Last reigning monarch of the Hawaiian islands &#40;1891-93&#41;. In 1893 she was deposed by a group of American businessmen led by Sanford Dole, and in 1898, Hawaii was annexed to the United States. Document signed by Liliuokalani as Princess Regent during the reign of Kalakaua and by H.A. Carter, the Minister of the Interior, 16 x 20 in., Honolulu, 1881, 4 pp. Royal Land Deed - Patent No. 532, regarding land in the historically important village of Kaawaloa, South Kona, Island of Hawaii. Kaawaloa was the famous site of Captain Cook&#39;s first landing and eventual murder on the shore of Kealekekua. Contains Royal Green Blind Impressed Seal, as well as two 50 cents Duty Stamps. Signatures of Liliuokalani when she was queen are very rare, excessively so when she was younger and Princess Regent.
