This is an electrotype copy of a real parade burgonet that is located in the Musee de L'Armee. This one is silver plated copper with scenes depicting Caesar on the left side being crowned and armored by a lady and a child. A similar scene is on the right side. The comb shows reclined Roman soldiers looking at a female figure. The right side being nude and on the left she is draped. Other figures are shown on the visor and rear peak. The detail on this burgonet is impressive with the right front of the visor having the "MUSEE/DE/L'ART'LE" marking that is on the original, on the ground below the chin of a female figure. The number "102536" (probably a serial number is engraved on the calf of a reclining child on the right rear peak. Provenance: The William Ashby Collection

Condition:
Good, much of the original silver remains with inconsequential loss on a few high spots. A small dent (1/2 inch x 3/8 inch) is on the left side forward of the rivets. A piece about the size of a quarter has broken from the same area and is included with the burgonet. The ear flaps are absent. A real piece like this would be extremely rare and very expensive!
