Full-page plates with tissue guards.<BR><BR>Half bound with brown-leather spines and corners, and burgundy cloth. Gilt titles and decorations on spines and front covers. Marbled endpapers. Gilt top edges. Some wear on bindings and minor toning in paper. Overall near fine.<BR><BR>This set, compiled by editors from several Southern universities, includes thirteen volumes of works by writers and historical figures, some well-known (John James Audubon, Thomas Hart Benton, David Crockett, Jefferson Davis, Thomas Dixon, William Henry Harrison, O. Henry, Sam Houston, Robert E. Lee, Edgar Allan Poe), and some made obscure by the passage of time.
