This blueprint copy is printed on 12"x36" paper and contains the blueprints in 1:8 scale for the Liberty Weekend '86 fireworks and lighting display float titled "Liberty Island Float". The float was designed to show an eagle with its wings extending out to both sides, and the years 1886 and 1986 nestled beneath its wings. René designed the 57th Academy Awards for which he won an Emmy; the Grammy Awards from 1983 to 1987; the Emmy Awards; and the County Music Awards from 1991 to 2006. He was Production Designer for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles, and for seven events for David Wolper's Liberty Weekend in 1986, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, for which he won an Emmy. David Lloyd Wolper was an American television and film producer, responsible for shows such as Roots, The Thorn Birds, and North and South, and the theatrically-released films Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and L.A. Confidential. He was awarded the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 57th Academy Awards in 1985 for his work producing the opening and closing ceremonies of the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, as well as helping to bring the games there. His 1971 film about the study of insects, The Hellstrom Chronicle, won an Academy Award. Liberty Weekend was a four-day celebration held to celebrate the 1984 restoration and the centenary of the Statue of Liberty in New York City. It began on July 3, 1986 and ended on July 6.
