Color satin-finish 10 x 8 photo of the Liberty Bell 7 capsule at the bottom of the ocean, signed in black felt tip, "Off to space 7/21/61, Guenter F. Wendt Padleader," "Claimed by the deep, Jim Lewis, Pilot, Hunt Club 1," and "Found!! 5/1/99, Curt Newport." In fine condition, with a slightly grainy quality to the image.

An impressive union of scarce Mercury era signatures—Wendt was the last person to see Grissom before lift off; Lewis was the USMC pilot unable to recover the capsule due its weight from flooding; Newport was the expedition leader who located and raised the capsule after 38 years on the ocean floor—all three men were aboard Newport’s ship when the raising of the capsule took place.
