Liberace Bicentennial Costume
An incredible outfit from one of the greatest entertainers of all time, this is Liberace's stage worn custom made Bicentennial red, white, and blue leather jacket and shorts ensemble. The jacket is studded with rhinestones and other faux jewels, and comes with a matching hand bag, also studded with rhinestones. A pair of matching studded leather shorts with a red, white & blue belt. He wore it in his red, white & blue Bicentennial silver cloud Rolls Royce convertible driven on stage. Liberace performed in this very costume multiple times at Caesar's Palace in 1971, and it was later replaced by a lighter costume as Liberace felt it was too heavy and hot for his performances. A museum quality piece, this costume is one of the premiere pieces of his collection. This piece comes directly from a personal friend of Liberace's, as well as his personal jeweler from the last 10-15 years of his life. A letter of provenance and a color copy of a newspaper article from 1978, that showcases Liberace's relationship with The Jewelry Factory in Lake Tahoe is included.
