Academy Award–winning director (1895–1980) known for Two Arabian Knights and All Quiet on the Western Front. TLS in Cyrillic, one page, 8.25 x 11, Feature Productions, Inc. letterhead, October 10, 1932. Letter to Mr. Weinbaum, a Russian journalist. In part (translated): “I hasten to thank you for kindly sending me the clipping with your article. I have read it with great interest and sent it to my parents…For them it would very likely be even more interesting to read and collect: ‘Remembrance of Things Past.’ My attachment to things Russian has not been lost. I am very much interested in Russian literature and Russian art, and I try to keep up with everything that is worldly and praise-worthy in these fields.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds, one through a single letter of signature, and a staple hole to top left.
