GIBSON, E. T. H. 1844-1849; [GARDINER, JOHN. 1916-1915.] Two autograph letters signed (ea. 9 3/4in x 15 1/2in; folded in half 9 3/4in x 7 3/4in), from Gibson, Commission Produce Merchant, New York, to John Gardiner of Norwalk, Ohio, March 2 and July 24, 1944 (on Gibson's letterhead). Together with another business letter to Gardiner, New York, 1842. Condition of the group is overall good; light toning/soiling, fold creases.  1.) July 24, 1844. , and several times to form envelope. Text/letterhead on one half. Regarding the buying, shipping, and selling of clover seed, in which Gardiner seems to be directly involved. Also, discussion of the bank, with Gibson writing: "It will be much more convenient for you, to do your business there... and I hope they will be prepared to offer more liberal terms... than they have done, heretofore." 2.) March 2, 1844. 9 3/4in x 15 1/2in folded in half (9 3/4in x 7 3/4in), and several times to form envelope. Gibson writes of a deal he is brokering for Gardiner's produce and flour, and discusses fluctuating prices of flour and pork. 3.) February 28, 1842. 9 3/4in x 15in, folded in half 9 3/4in x 7 1/2in; and folded several times to form envelope. Wonderful handwriting, but signature is difficult to read. A business letter regarding a payment of $910 to be made to Gardiner: "...which you will please [?] as we are very desirous to realize from all our available funds, times being pretty close with us." John Gardiner, born in New London County, Connecticut, was an important figure in Norwalk, Ohio (arriving in 1832), where he helped establish the Norwalk Branch of the Bank of the State Bank of Ohio, and the Charter of the Toledo, Norwalk, and Cleveland Railroad Company.
