<B>Letter to J. P. Getty from His Son.</B></I> A typed letter to J. Paul Getty from his first son George Getty, signed in black ink. The letter is dated November 19, 1944, on Army letterhead. Getty was an infantry lieutenant in WWII, and shared with his father: "...if I can do my bit to even allow one generation of little children to grow up without having to march into war, it will be worth all my time," and closing "Please write if you ever have time." The 6" x 10" double-sided letter includes a handwritten closing along with a sketch of an Army boot.
