<B>Manuscript letter signed "Swett, Lawrence, Lincoln & Lamon Atty's for deft"</B></I> in an unknown hand. Danville, Ill., May 1, 1855, to the Champaign County circuit court clerk (T.R. Webber), one page, quarto, on ruled blue paper. In the case of State of Illinois vs George High, the attorneys ask that subpoenas be issued for Wesley Barton, William Gilmore and Jack Noland, directed to Henderson County since it has been learned that the witnesses do not reside in the county first thought, "<I>but a mile or two over the line in the next county…Great promptness is desired.</B></I>" At foot Webber has written a note indicating that the subpoenas were issued on 2 May.
