Letter from U.S. Ordinance Office to Sam L Colt dated August 24, 1855 and another September 5, 1855. These letters concern a bayonet for French rifle described as a La Tige. A diagram of this French style sabrebayonet is included. It is believed the Ordinance Department was impressed with French sword bayonet and was soliciting Colt for manufacture of same two (2) pages.
