Letter and Photos of W.F. Cody
Typed and hand signed one page letter to J.T. McCaddon (famous circus personality) on Buffalo Bill’s Wild West letterhead, Valdosta, GA. October 11, 1907. Cody writes (errors intact) “Another circumstance to show how I am ignored to the detriment of our Company. Mr. Evans charges the traders at Pine Ridge, five per cent for collecting the money due them for costumes bought by the Indians. If these traders had not trusted these Indians, and waited months for their money, Cody and Bailey would have had to advance the money to costume their Indians....” Joseph T McCaddon was Cody’s competition in France, went bust and was sent home. He was later arrested in New York. Interesting letter boldly signed. 2 Punch holes at top and some slight fading to typing otherwise very good. Matted with one hand tinted bust image of Cody, 9 1/2” x 7” and second photo 14 1/2” x 11 of Cody seated at his show tent. Titled Ready for boots & saddle. Framed to 34” x 25” Not examined out of frame Ex: Kortlander Collection
