Letter From Soldier in the 25th Georgia Infantry
Civil War Letter From A Soldier in the 25th Georgia Volunteer Infantry. From L. B. Robbins, two pages, 6.25 x 8, Dalton, Georgia, April 10, 1864, written in ink, to Mrs. Marey Stewart, address unknown. Though this letter doesn't have vivid descriptions of battles it does perfectly illustrate the level of education of the average Confederate soldier. The soldier is barely literate as illustrated by the rather liberal spelling errors: Sister, it is with the gratis sic of pleshur sic that I seat myself this morning to write you a few linesthe boys in camp are ginreley sic well and tolreliley sic good spirits. The letter itself is legible, there are some old tape repairs which have bled through and affected a couple of lines of text, else good condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
