Leslie Turner - Captain Easy Daily Comic Strip Original Art, Group of 2 (NEA, 1945). Captain Easy helps two G.I. buddies, Luther and Bib, adjust to civilian life as they are about to be discharged from the Army, four months after V-J day. In 1943, Leslie Turner proved the ideal replacement for Roy Crane on the Captain Easy dailies. Turner had already been assisting Crane for six years and when he took over the strip, it was one of the smoothest transitions ever. Like Crane, Turner was a master of forceful pen work wed to atmospheric effects created on duo tone art paper. This lot of two consecutive dailies, a Saturday, dated 12-15-45, and a Monday, dated 12-17-45, present a nice chunk of the continuity. The image area of each daily is 16.25" x 4.75". The duo tone pattern remains vivid, and the art is in Excellent condition. 2 items
