Six TLSs, one signed 'Leslie R. Groves" and five signed "Leslie," each one page, dated from 1962–1968, all to Gilbert Darlington. Groves sends thanks for "Chu's book on China," declines invitations, sketches a map with directions to his house, ponders the costs of the "Space Race" ("Somehow I can't help but feel that if our space efforts were more soundly controlled the billions of dollars saved could be more profitably used"), and weighs in on the Pueblo incident ("I cannot understand much of the back ground of the Pueblo affair off North Korea. I do now that we threw away our great chance for a sound peace in Asia when we did not follow MacArthur's wishes to fight to win. Too much State Department control did it"). Also includes a brief handwritten note from his wife, Grace. In fine condition.
