General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, presiding over the country from 1964 until his death in 1982. During Brezhnev's rule, the global influence of the Soviet Union grew dramatically, in part because of the expansion of the Soviet military during this time. World War II–dated DS in Cyrillic, one page, 7.5 x 11.5, August 20, 1944. Untranslated document, evidently a report of 18th Army Major Ivan Petrovich Scherbak, a lecturer in the political department. Colonel Brezhnev, then 38 years old and head of the 18th Army's political department, signs with indelible pencil at bottom. Includes a card depicting the soldier. In fine condition.
