Attractive illustrated color program for his Mass, 9 x 12, presented at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Wash., D.C., 1971. Signed in blue felt tip “Leonard Bernstein” on a handsome full page profile portrait. Paul Hume, critic of the Washington Post, also signs at the head of his long, perceptive article on Mass, and also signed by David Cryer, one of the stars. In fine condition, with a few small creases and spots to cover, and some mild handling wear. Hume was best known for his critical review of a concert by Margaret Truman and the scathing letter he later received from her father, President Harry S. Truman. Truman called Hume “an eight ulcer man on four ulcer pay,” and actually threatened him with physical violence if he ever met face to face. RRAuction COA.
