Film producer (1884–1949) most noted for founding Leon Schlesinger Productions, which later became the Warner Bros. Cartoons studio, during the golden age of Hollywood animation. Colorful original hand-painted animation cel, gouache on full celluloid, circa 1940, of the hunched-over ‘Blind Beggar’ cartoon character, 12 x 9, signed in the lower right in black ink, “This is an original painting I used in:—‘Looney Tunes’ and ‘Merrie Melodies.’ Leon Schlesinger.” This character appeared in the 1940 Merrie Melodies cartoon entitled ‘Busy Bakers.’ Some slight irregular adhesion of paint to celluloid and a couple chips and ripples to edges, otherwise fine condition.
