Russian novelist and moral philosopher (1828–1910) best known for his epic novels War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Crisp vintage fountain pen signature “Leo Tolstoy, 1908, 23 May” on a light blue 4.5 x 3.5 card. Page is affixed to a 7 x 4.75 off-white album page. In fine condition, with some mild toning to edge of page. On the date this signature was obtained (perhaps by his photographer), Tolstoy sat for the only known color photograph taken of him at his Yasnaya Polyana estate.
