Leo Sommers - Bomba the Jungle Boy #1, page 13 Original Art (DC, 1967). Even quicker than the lightning-swift pounce of the ocelot are the steel-spring reflexes of Bomba, the Jungle Boy! First published in 1926, Bomba was one of the earliest and most successful of the many Tarzan imitators. He lived far back in the jungles of the Amazon, and hunted animals with a bow and arrow and his trusty machete. His daring adventures were followed with breathless interest by thousands. The books were popular and sold well, as indicated by the number of titles in the series, the longevity of its time in print, and the number of spinoffs into movies and comics. DC Comics began publishing a Bomba the Jungle Boy comic book series in 1967. This page is from the first comic book appearance of Bomba, penciled and inked by Leo Sommers. The image area of the art is 10" x 15" and the page has several small stains in the first and third panels and four holes punched along the top and bottom edges, made during the production process, otherwise the work is in Very Good condition.
