Printed Later Foundation Stamped. Leo Matiz was born in Colombia in 1917. In 1941 he moved to Mexico and established himself as a photographer for the media and film. There he became associated with the muralists Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueros. In 1951 he gave Fernando Botero his first show. This photo documents this event. Leo Matiz is on the left, Botero is lighting a cigarette in the middle and Pastor Carpena (a more famous artist at the time is on the right) Leo died in 1998.
