Rare ALS signed “Lenny,” penned in red ballpoint across the reverse of a 20.25 x 8.75 Union News Company ‘Tobacco–Cigars’ order form, no date. A rambling and ranting handwritten letter to his manager Jack Rollins, in part (spelling and grammar retained): “Night club owners are not aware of tax thats why the are consistantly in trouble. Our answer to the gov’t we sent them all letters showing our intent and desire to pay would be quite niave especially if I was handled by any who had any tax experience. The only thing that must be done you must fly personally to each person I have worked for and get a statement. I want a statement from each person. ‘The guy promised he would send.’ I know you would never get into the ‘what the guy said area’—I love you and you I but I want you to get paid…you said you need complete management I agree and want it. I am very happy with all the moves you have made. Last night was see attached. You have baby, I feel guilt about calling you for in morning ‘Jack did you call that guy about the lot in bla bla bla…so Sheldon is perfect I’ll call or yell at Sheldon at 4 AM Plus if Sheldon is hip to everything that’s happening tax wise and all around wise I am sitting next to the driver not in back.” Bruce’s handwriting and the overall coherency of the letter degenerates from this point on: “I leave you with this demand, demand if the I leave you or rather close…bit short ad and…I want you to fly personally to every job, FLY TO EVERY JOB I HAD THIS YEAR TALK TO THEM (ESTABLISH OWNER).” In very good to fine condition, with old tape, and tape stains, to the last panel.
