Lennon's Bag One Exhibition Promo Portfolio
John Lennon's Bag One Exhibition Promotional Portfolio. In 1969, as a wedding gift for Yoko, John created a portfolio of lithographs as a chronicle of their wedding ceremony and subsequent honeymoon and "bed-in" pleas for world peace. The edition also included eight erotic images, and due to the nature of those eight, the lithos were seized by Scotland Yard upon their first exhibition in January of 1970. By the time of the New York exhibition the following February, the notorious "Erotic Lithographs" were incredibly well-received, even featured on the cover of Avant Garde magazine. The New York exhibition took place at the Lee Nordness Gallery, and as a promotional tool for the highly-anticipated show, the gallery produced portfolios containing high quality re-prints of each litho in the exhibition. Included is one of the limited edition promotional portfolios with a complete set of 14 images from the exhibition and one print of Lennon's A - Z alphabet poem, ending with the line: "This is my story both humble and true, take to pieces and mend it with glue." An incredible find from perhaps the most controversial stage of Lennon's life. Though the exterior folder displays minor corner wear, the 8.5" x 11" prints are in Excellent condition.

Shipping: Flat Material, Small (view shipping information)
