Lend- As They Fight (Lot of 11) 30 x20 WWI Lend- As They Fight.
Lend- As They Fight. (Lot of 11) 30" x 20" Artist: Sidney Riesenberg. Printed by the Liberty Loan Committee, this poster echos a moment in Homer's Iliad. In book Sixteen, lines 40-47, Patroclus begs Achilles to let him fight against the Trojans; he says; "Give me your armor to put on my shoulders; The Trojans might suppose I was you, Hold back, and give the Acheans' sons a breather; For breathing spells in war are very few. Then with a shout fresh men might easily turn tired men from the ships toward the city." In war there are few times where soldiers are awarded a rest or a break. But in this poster a wounded man is being supported by a soldier who is fresh and well equipped. This poster echos the sentiment that American dollars kept soldiers strong and well equipped, and even if one did fall there was one right behind him to pick him up and keep fighting. No other poster depicts that fact so vividly. A powerful and scarce image. Once in a lifetime chance for any collector!

Condition: Posters 1&2- Superior.
Posters 3-6- Fine; major tears on the corners.
Posters 7&8- Superior.
Poster 9- Fine; some major wear and tear on edges.
Poster 10- Superior.
Poster 11- Superior; dirt stains and residue on upper edge.
