The Lenape-Penn Treaty was made in 1682. This 4 1/4" long sterling silver souvenir spoon celebrates this event. The front of the handle has scenes from Philadelphia. It also has a banner that says Penn Treaty surrounded by peace pipe and flags. The handle also says Lenape. The bowl has an amazingly well detailed scene of Indians on the coast watching a ship. This scene is unusually bold and 3-d. The front of the handle is lightly monogrammed. This spoon is in extremely good condition. It is pictured on page 88 of the book American Spoons, Souvenir and Historical by Dorothy Rainwater and Donna Felger. According to this book, it was made by Dominick and haff. It is marked as patented in 1892.
