ALS signed “Lee,” three pages, 7 x 10.5, October 29, 1944. Letter, in his difficult to decipher hand, to his father who was serving in Europe. In part: “So you are in France, well I hope that you ain’t up front but I guess you are. Just keep your but [sic] down (from an old hand) and don’t stick your neck out.” At the conclusion, Marvin writes his father’s name as the recipient, “P.F.C. Lee Marvin.” In fine condition, with intersecting folds. Marvin was wounded in action during the Battle of Saipan, during which most of his platoon were killed. Marvin's wound (in the buttocks) was from machine gun fire.
