Historically important Lee Harvey Oswald autograph letter signed, withheld from the Warren Commission by Oswald's mother because she felt that it raised suspicions about his relationship with the Russians and that they distrusted him. Oswald writes to his Mother in a jovial manner announcing the pregnancy of his wife Marina. Dated 1 November [1961], letter reads “…I’m glad to know you sent me some more book I finished reading those others, and my friends were very interested in them. Well, it looks like I’m going to be a papa. We expect the baby at the beginning of March. We would like a boy…I notice where you say you would like to come to the Soviet Union. I don’t recommend it, in my case!…On the 7 of November there shall be a holiday here, Revolution Day. So I’ll get to sleep late. Ha Ha. You said something about more cans of shaving cream, It’s not necessary because one can last for a very long time (1 ½ years). Outside of books and literature I really don’t need anything for now. Where are you working now? Are you working for those same people?…Love xx Lee…from Marina xxx kisses…” Very attractive letter penned in bright-blue ink on pale pink ruled paper. Preserved in light, flexible acetate which can be removed by a professional restorer; Oswald's mother encased all her son's letters in this medium when forwarding them to the Warren Commission, indicating she must have changed her mind about sending this letter. Penned on two separate leaves, ideal for display or exhibition. Originally from the collection of Charles Hamilton and provenance included with lot.
