Lee Enfield No 8 Mk 1 .22lr Training Rifle - RARE

This highly desirable collectable is in very good condition - All matched numbers
Receiver , Bolt and wood stock are all numbered DA836. Probaly bulit in early 1951.

There are other stamps too - a CR 324 and a NZ with an up-pointed arrow
inbetween the N nd the Zon one side of trigger band - on the other side is 2 Crowns.
This leads us to believe it is a New Zealand reissue...

There were two action styles, this one is very similar to the standard No4 Action.
Both were purpose built as the No8.

The rear sight is correct and has the Harmonised “H” setting when used with Landscape Targets.

Whilst BSA designed and manufactured the No.8 rifle at the Shirley factory on the outskirts of Birmingham, mostly for a New Zealand Contract, a significant number, probably the greater, of rifles were produced at Fazakerley, the Royal Ordnance Factory in Lancashire.

The rifle has matching serial numbers on the Bolt, Receiver & Fore-end.
the original rubber butt pad has been relaced with a NAACo one.
