Lebanon,KY - Marion County - 1900 - Thomas Hill and Descendants :
Written by Hill, John David. Hardcover, 200 pages including index and numerous genealogical tables. Published by The Press of John P. Morton and Company, Louisville, Kentucky, 1900. Reddish stain at bottom left corner of many pages, possibly due to stain from front cover of maroon cloth. Otherwise, very fine condition. The writer claims to have successfully obtained "the names of a majority of the descendants of my great-grandfather, Thomas Hill, and a complete list of all the descendants of my grandfather, Clement Hill." This was done "trusting that the book will be of interest to my many relatives, and will serve to keep them more closely united in the bonds of friendship and love." The author's grandfather, Clement Sidney Hill (February 13, 1813 - January 5, 1892) was a U.S. Representative from Kentucky. Born near Lebanon, Kentucky, he attended St. Mary’s College, St. Mary, Kentucky, and later studied law. He was admitted to the bar in 1837 and practiced in Lebanon, Kentucky. Elected a member of the Kentucky House of Representatives in 1839, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-third Congress in 1853. After leaving Congress, he resumed the practice of law in Lebanon, Kentucky, where he died in 1892.
