<B>Lebanon, IN</B></I> - $20 1875 Fr. 435 <B>The Lebanon NB</B></I> Ch. # 2660<BR>This community had two banks that issued the First Charter designs. The other, The First National Bank, is well known within the collecting fraternity as the source of a small hoard of high grade and uncirculated Aces and Lazy Twos. Not so this institution, which had just two survivors listed among its large emissions prior to tonight's offering, both $20 notes from the 1875 series. This <B>Very Good</B></I> example makes a third. Our Florida United Numismatists 2006 auction included one of the others, an About Fine, which sold for $5,750. This note is virtually the visual equal of that offering, but bears the assigned grade due to some unobtrusive margin roughness here and there. The ink signatures remain exceptionally dark, in spite of the obvious circulation this prohibitively rare note has seen. Just 15 of the $20 1875 Series have now been documented for the entire state of Indiana, widely scattered amongst 10 issuers.
