<td width="100%">
Unusual early 19th century black leather box with gold tooling surrounding the lid as well as two triangular and one round piece of open work jade inlaid into the top. The wood interior houses 4 compartments with brass name plates above each. Solid brass hinge. Probably used by a distinguished men's clothier of the early 1800's for display and choice of a stud,cuff-link or tie tack collection as the paper stamp on bottom refers to the box as the "Preference Chest". Bottom is lined with black felt. Wonderful box for use as a man's valet or desk accessory despite the tiny spots of worn leather. Measures 10L X 4D X 2.75H.
