Leather & Fur Shotgun Hunting / Shooting Bags (2)
For your consideration are two leather & fur shotgun hunting / shooting bags from the mid 20th century. The first bag shows a leather construction with its lid and front section covered in cow fur. The front leather section is stamped and inked in black reading, "J.G.M." possibly the initials of the original owner. The bottom of the shoulder strap is leather with the rest and the majority of it being constructed from canvas. When opened it shows a large space used for putting shotgun shells or other items. The fur shows some slight wear with spots worn away. The second bag shows a leather and cow fur construction, likely a Longhorn or Red Hereford. It features an all leather shoulder strap for easy carrying. When opened, the bag shows a netted pouch for disposing of spent shells. Behind that is a smaller pouch for putting various small items in, while the final pouch can hold larger items and has ten slots for shotgun shells. Eight spent shells are sitting in the slots to retain their form. The bags show good condition overall with slight wear present from thier age and use over the years, but no major signs of damage noted. The first and lighter colored bag measures 8 3/8" L x 10 1/4" W x 4 3/8" D, while the second and darker colored bag measures 9 7/8" L x 11 1/8" W x 3" D. They have a collective weight of 3 pounds and 6 ounces.
