Two cased daguerreotypes, one portrait of Pioneer California Land Surveyor, Leander Ransome, and other with wife. 1855 Daguerreotype: image of Leander Ransom and wife, California friends of Susan and John Hays. Ransom was chief clerk in the California Surveyor General office from 1851 through the 1860's. 1/6 plate. Double-cased, about 3/4-inch-thick, showing an image of Ransom on one side and his wife on the other. Cased in "book" type casing w/ Mother-of-pearl inlays, and spine marked "Token". Very fine quality and very fine condition. 2.75" x 3.25"
