Custom frame measures 28" x 35" in size. Features a serigraph that has been hand-signed in pencil by LeRoy Neiman (D. 2012). The serigraph is an Artist Proof and has been hand-numbered #27/60.
This Valhalla is not the great heavenly hall where Vikings who die in battle spend eternity feasting with their gods, This Valhalla is most decidedly of the earth, and more specifically, Louisville, Kentucky, perhaps best known for thoroughbred horses, whiskey, and bourbon. Another of Louisville's attractions is the Valhalla Golf Club, with a course designed by the Jack Nicklaus organization. Valhalla was the site of the 2000 PGA of America 82nd PGA Championship, and America's golf sensation, Tiger Woods, was there to defend as reigning champion. Valhalla is a familiar course to PGA players. A regular stop on the player's tour, it hosted the 1996 Championship, making it one of only 10 courses to host multiple PGA Championships. One of Valhalla's more picturesque holes is also the most anxious, the 18th. Here a close race for the Championship might be won or lost with a single stroke. In this serigraph, the artist has placed the gracious clubhouse is the distance while closer in, the multicolored gallery looks on as a leaderboard clubsman tries to traverse the water hazard and advantageously drop his ball on the undulating 18th green. In addition, a most careful landscaping and his glorious use of color, the artist's studies of athletes are so meticulous that his treatment of this golfer could be used in a textbook: the head is down, shoulders turned, left arm straight, wrists bent, hips straight, and knees bent. Only LeRoy Neiman could produce a golf print that is so technically precise while also capturing all the tension and thrill of championship golf.
