This work offers one such example of LeRoy Neiman’s (American, 1926-2012) eponymously named Femlin. This particular example is shown preparing and stirring a cocktail wine. The Femlins are a great example of 20th century Americana and symbolized the Playboy aesthetic of the 1960s and 70s. Envisioned as 12” tall, she is rendered in Neiman’s illustrations in that scale. Depicted as mischievous and, as her name suggests, a female gremlin, she was featured in every issue of Playboy on the jokes page behind the centrefold. Neiman contributed two Femlins drawings for every monthly issue of Playboy, for 50 years. Illustrations like this were created as “camera-ready” line-art, to be photographed and then reduced for inclusion in Playboy Magazine. Measuring 7 inches x 8.5 inches (19.05 cm x 21.59 cm), it is signed Leroy Neiman on the lower right corner
