Important French architect, artist, and industrial designer (1887–1965) whose central role in the development of the International Style made him one of the most influential and widely debated figures in the history of architecture. Abstract blue crayon sketch of two nude female figures on a 9 x 11.5 off-white sheet, signed “L-C,” with Le Corbusier adding an unsigned handwritten paragraph on the reverse, referencing a book called “Between.” Paragraph on reversre reads (translated): “And therefore should be in this book titled "entre deux" (between two) edition in one exemplaire, only one time the following drawing (that one) should remain a construction, a coherence a cohesion, a firework between lines in all directions a concentration of lines in a expressed soothing geometrie Because between two things, two shores, two poles, two tides.” In very good condition, with uniform light toning, show-through from manuscript on reverse, and a vertical crease and several edge tears to right edge, lightly affecting the manuscript, but not the sketch.
