American aviatrix (1901–1967) who set a number of notable aviation records in the 1930s. Accused of being a spy under the provisions of the 1938 Foreign Agents Registration Act, she was jailed for more than a year in 1942–43. Despite the support of such notables as Eddie Rickenbacker, Ingalls was never pardoned. Air mail envelope, 6.5 x 3.5, signed in black ink, “Laura Ingalls, Los Angeles to New York Non-stop, Sept. 12, 1935. Time: 13hr. 35 min. Distance: 2543.” In fine condition, with a typed address to lower right.
