Late Winchester Third Model 1876 Lever Action Carbine
Produced in 1897, this carbine is an extremely late production model and represents one of the last 50 Model 1876 ever manufactured. Pinched front and folding ladder rear sights on blued barrel with standard Winchester two line address. Casehardened hammer and lever, with the saddle ring mounted on the left side of the receiver behind the side plate, and the integral dust cover rail on top. Smooth straight grip walnut stock with "musket" style full length forearm, single barrel band and smooth steel buttplate with a four piece cleaning rod in the butt trap.

Condition: Fair, with traces of thinning original blue on the barrel, thinning along high points with dings concentrated between the muzzle and the barrel band. 30% original blue remains on the receiver, with the balance a mottled gray/brown patina with spotting and scattered handling marks. Bright and vivid case color is visible on the hammer, deep in the protected area. Stock is fair, with chipping around the buttplate and barrel band, cracking behind the lower tang, pressure dents and light scratches. Mechanically fine.
