Late WWII Production U.S. Colt Model 1911A1 Semi-Automatic Pistol
Colt M1911A1 Automatic pistol manufactured by Colt in 1945 and shipped to the Springfield Armory between March 7 and March 29, 1945. The pistol has the gray-green, "Parko-Lubrite", finish adopted by Colt in early 1945, brown plastic, checkered, stocks and a WWII full-blue magazine. The right side of the frame is stamped with the Ordnance escutcheon behind the stock. The frame is roll-stamped: UNITED STATES PROPRTY/No2286837 behind the slide stop hole and "M1911A1 U.S. Army" in front of it. The Colt triangle "V/P" proof mark is stamped on the left side of the trigger guard bow. The "G.H.D." Ordnance final inspection mark is stamped vertically on the left side of the frame below the side stop cut-out and a "P" proof mark is stamped between the magazine release and the stock. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with the Colt 1897-1913 patent dates in a two-line block followed by the Rampant Colt trademark and the two-line Hartford address. A "P" proof mark is stamped on the top of the slide ahead of the rear sight. The "P" proof faces the right. The pistol has the late production Colt, seven-rib mainspring housing, checkered slide stop and safety lock, short, wide-spur, hammer and WWI milled trigger with smooth face. The blued barrel is stamped with and "F" on the right side of the lug and a "P" on the left; the "F" indicates the barrel was manufactured by the Flannery Bolt Co. The stocks have the Keyes Fibre Co., "K/five-pointed star" trademark on the inside. The slide is, correctly, not serial numbered and the feed ramp has the correct Parko-Lubrite finish. The replacement barrel, stocks, hammer and trigger indicate that the pistol was repaired or partially overhauled.

Condition: Very-fine. The pistol retains 90% plus of the original Parko-Lubrite finish on the slide and frame. Wear is limited to minor finish loss on the muzzle end of the slide and frame and some minor high-point wear on the slide. The barrel has a bright bore and retains about 80% of the blue finish; the top of the chamber has been polished. The frame and slide markings are crisp. This is a very fine example of a late WWII production Colt M1911A1 with the correct Parko-Lubrite finish.
